Description
Since its establishment in 1815, The Ardbeg distillery has been on a tumultuous rollercoaster ride of ownership changes, closures, and reopening. Stability was only achieved relatively recently, when the ailing distillery was purchased in 1997 by industry giants, Glenmorangie. The subsequent years have seen the distillery's popularity swell, with fans enticed by the signature style of tarry, sooty. This is a very rare official distillery bottling, and the first Ardbeg single cask release in many years. Distilled in 2005, matured for 13 years in a single Oloroso sherry butt cask numbered 1321, then bottled from the cask at 56.4% in 2018. This bottle was created specifically for Fèis Ìle 2018 and was only available at the distillery. That makes it not just rare to own, but genuinely special to taste.
