Description

Situated in the Firth of Clyde, the island of Arran was once a hotbed of illicit distillation and smuggling. Eventually though the dreaded excise men got the best of Arran's renegade stillmen, and the island was without a working distillery from 1837. That all changed in 1995 when the Arran distillery at Lochranza started production. Although it is a relative youngster, Arran's investment in quali ... This rare first-fill sherry cask was matured on the Isle of Arran for 25 years, before being bottled exclusively for the UK. Intense notes of dark chocolate and orange oil followed by roasted caramel give this outstanding Single Malt a rich and luxurious mouthfeel. Long lasting and memorable on the finish.

Nose
very aromatic sherry, full of blackberries and strawberry jams, soaked raisins and hints of redcurrants, but also showing peonies and very light potpourri. Orange oils and mint leaves. Subtle fruit tea and dusty books. A rare style of sherry, fruity and highly seductive.
Palate
really good again, even though it's a little lighter / thinner than expected. More (blood) oranges, hints of Moroccan mint, with rose pepper and cloves. At the same time caramelized nuts in the background, raspberries and tobacco. Nicely rounded, still showing this floral top note.
Finish
long, with roasted malt and chocolate notes, alongside red fruits and gentle oak spice.
