Description

The Claxton's Warehouse No. 1 Arran 27 years old 1996 is an Isle of Arran single malt from the Arran (Lochranza) distillery, bottled by the independent bottler Claxton's in their Warehouse No. 1 series. This 1996 vintage from Arran's very first season was distilled on the 14th of October 1996 and matured for twenty-seven years in a single sherry butt (C23090). It was bottled in 2024 at a natural cask strength of 50.4% ABV, non-chill filtered, and with no added color, as a limited single cask release of 697 bottles. Complex layers of apple-pie warmth and vanilla-cream richness unfold over the island malt's firm coastal backbone.

Nose
Hot apple pie cooling on a windowsill, whipped cream flecked with vanilla, a whiff of polished furniture and the faint salt spray that drifts in from the pier.
Palate
Malt-loaf sweet, moves into soft strudel, figs and honeyed walnuts, then coasts out on balanced oak, dried fruit and a buttery pastry note that refuses to fade.
Finish
Long and elegant, carrying forward the refined, dryish character with lingering fruit notes.
