Description

The Balvenie 10 Year Old Founder's Reserve was a core range single malt whisky, launched in the 1980s and discontinued around 2009. It was created by Malt Master David Stewart, marrying 10-year-old single malts matured in a combination of ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks. It is known for its approachable and well-balanced character.

Complex orchard fruit, tropical fruit (pineapple, peaches, overripe bananas), honeysuckle, graham, malt, honey, bakery notes, candied orange peels, honeycomb, cloves, and a light smoky note.
Palate
Complex fruit (orchard, tropical, dark), honey, malt, waxy red licorice, graham, cinnamon, anise, ripe apples, light vanilla, gentle florals, sweet and sour tropical fruit, cloves, white pepper, dustiness, toffee, dried fruits, and subtle oakiness.
Finish
Long and malty with layers of fruit, graham, wood; short to medium, slightly floral, drying, with lots of honey, spices, heat, assertive, lingering sweet and fruity notes, a hint of spice, dry malt, and cocoa notes.
