Description

Bimber The 1st Peated is the distillery's inaugural peated single malt whisky, distilled in May 2019 and bottled in 2022. This limited release of 1,140 bottles was crafted from a marriage of four heavily peated American oak ex-bourbon casks. It is notable as the first modern English whisky produced from peated barley fully crafted on-site by the producing distillery itself, using single farm Concerto and Laureate barley from Fordham & Allen in Hampshire. The whisky is non-chill filtered and has an in-bottle PPM of 14.4.

Nose
Pronounced, fresh and expressive. Stewed apples are joined by ripe red berries, charred mandarin segments and plump raisins. The natural sweetness from soft toffee merges with crumbly shortbread and crushed walnuts, whilst nutmeg and clove spices provide a balanced intensity.
Palate
Full-bodied with a viscous mouthfeel. Flame-scorched orange peels and jammy berry fruits are enriched with sultanas and sponge cake. Creamy vanilla toffee is enlivened by ginger and pepper spicing, whilst dark chocolate and leather offer further delectable depths.
Finish
Lingering pepper and nutmeg spices are sweetened with demerara sugar and bolstered by a touch of charred oak.
