Description

The oldest operational distillery on the isle of Islay, built in 1779. Today it is part of the Suntory Group, having been acquired by the Japanese company in 1994. The Bowmore Enigma 12 Year Old Litre was a travel retail exclusive, known for its rich complexity and a higher proportion of sherry-aged whisky compared to the standard 12-year-old. It was aged in a combination of ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks, with a heavy emphasis on the latter, particularly Oloroso sherry. This expression was discontinued around 2014.
