Description

Founded in 2018 by Angus MacRaild and Iain McClune, Decadent Drinks first made its name in January 2019 with the release of its initial single malts under the 'Whisky Sponge' label. This expression has undergone an original maturation: half in a Pedro Ximénez sherry hogshead that previously held a Bunnahabhain Staoisha, and half in an Oloroso sherry hogshead in which a single malt from the Ardnahoe distillery had previously matured.

Nose
Ample, deep. Extremely delicate and captivating, the aromatic palette is at once mineral (slate), lemony, floral (daisy, dandelion), herbaceous (tobacco), medicinal (mustard seed), honeyed (acacia), iodized, and very subtly peated.
Palate
Nuanced, elegant. Initially, flavors of barley sugar, roasted pineapple, and chamomile gently permeate the taste buds. Then, the taste palette becomes increasingly saline, maritime (crustaceans, algae), licorice-like, and empyreumatic (charcoal, embers).
Finish
Tender, mature. Fully bloomed, it reveals candied (lemon), nobly spiced (clove, saffron), pastoral (wildflowers), and chocolatey notes. Then, flavors of plantain, zucchini flower, and green licorice expand an impressively long retro-olfaction. Scents of Havana and mentholated peat escape from the empty glass.
