Description

Nestled in the idyllic Cotswolds region of England, sits the eponymous distillery founded by Daniel Szor. They have been producing fine spirits since 2014, including Gin, Absinthe and cream liqueur. However, perhaps most significantly (for us at least) 2017 marked the release of their first whisky, finally having come of age after three years of maturation. Since 2022, a completely new distillery ... This single malt is crafted from 100% locally grown Odyssey barley, distilled in Forsyths copper pot stills (Mary & Janis), and aged in a combination of ex-bourbon and re-charred American oak red wine (STR) casks. It is bottled non-chill filtered with no added coloring.

Nose
Extremely fruity with apples, stonefruits, red wine notes, caramel, vanilla, baking spices, black teas, black pepper, cinnamon, allspice, clove, ginger, and fresh banana notes. Hints of honey, butterscotch, apricot, toasted cereals, and a touch of spice. Floral, herbal honey, dried fruitcake fruits, pithy orange, crisp barley, almond extract, and subtle vanilla bean.
Palate
An initial rush of fruit and spice, with evident STR cask influence. Flavors of raspberries, blood orange, currants, red plum, sweet caramel, cinnamon, allspice, clove, ginger, lemon zest, and stonefruits. Creamy texture with malt, caramel, dried fruits, vanilla, and oak. Rich dark fruit and cocoa bean notes.
Finish
Medium to long and warming, with baking spices, fresh red fruits, honey, cocoa powder, orange, cinnamon, oak, and fruit. Delicate balance of sweetness and spice, with hints of burnt sugar, roasted almonds, ginger, clove, and subtle charcoal-y wood smoke.
