Description

One of the last remaining distilleries from Campbeltown's glory days as "whisky capital of the world", Glen Scotia's versatility made it extremely useful to blenders; a factor that undoubtedly played a part in its survival of the 1920s cull. That might imply that the life of the small distillery has all been smooth sailing, however the truth is anything but. Glen Scotia has traded hands frequently. This Glen Scotia single malt whisky was distilled in 2010 and bottled in April 2021 from cask #19/380-9 exclusively for The Callander Drinks Company.

Nose
PX hits you first, dark, rich, treacle, dried fruit, old oak, slight salted caramel, hints of smoke, cinnamon spice, pain d'épices. There is also a faint balsamic vinegar side to it.
Palate
Sweet and sticky, sticky toffee pudding, dates, molasses, brown sugar, christmas cake, treacle, rich caramel, not as spicy as I was expecting, prunes, nuts, a touch of salt and smoke. Super rich and decadent, like a boozy PX!
Finish
Mouth coating sweetness (like the PX itself) hints of earthy peat appear amongst the decadent richness, dark dried fruit, walnut, oak.
