Description

Released in 2022, this non-age statement expression is the third and final instalment of the Legacy Series, dedicated to Sir Arthur John Tedder, an exciseman who helped define the rules of Scotch whisky. The whisky was largely matured in American oak sherry casks. Glengoyne is a Highland malt distillery located in Dumgoyne, a small village to the north of Glasgow. For over a century it was synonymous with the blenders, Lang Brothers, however it was acquired by Ian Macleod Distillers in 2003 and has been transformed.

Nose
This leans heavily on American oak maturation, with touches of apricots, vanilla pods, biscuits and honey-glazed apples. There's a hint of cinnamon and cloves, but also some sultanas. Sweet yet fresh and well-integrated.
Palate
The mouthfeel is creamy but also somewhat thinner than expected. A sweet arrival with vanilla, some more apricots and then honey. A pinch of black pepper too. Finally some cinnamon-sprinkled apples, mint and macadamia nuts.
Finish
Somewhat drying and the spices linger for a while. Finally a sliver of grainy pear.
