Toasted rye bread gives the grain character a clear place, while vanilla, caramel and brown sugar bring a softer counterpoint. The finish sounds more challenging at first, with dryness and oaky bitterness, but persistent fruit sweetness and soft spice keep it connected to the palate. A layered, warmly spiced Canadian whisky, with enough contrast to make the details interesting.
