Description

This Longrow 20 Year Old was distilled in October 2001 at Springbank distillery in Campbeltown and matured for two decades in six refill bourbon barrels. It was bottled in August 2022 at 47.9% ABV, with an outturn of 1,488 bottles, exclusively for members of the Springbank Society. Longrow is known for its heavily peated character, produced using traditional methods including floor-malting.

Nose
Very Islay on the nose as it starts with seaweed, antiseptic and lemons. Lychee juice, apple juice, apple danish and metal appear next. Hints of farm and dried apricots stay in the background.
Palate
A very zingy citrus smoke fills the palate. Mild notes of sweet, tart and bitter balance out. It improves with time as it picks up a combo of oranges + black walnuts + salty smoke, with bits of dry savory herbs and dried apricots around the edges.
Finish
Tangy lemons and smoky residue finish it off, with smaller notes of black walnuts and sweet oranges in the background.
