Description

The Old Perth 21 Year Old Limited Edition is a blended malt Scotch whisky, a rare vatting of well-aged Macallan and Highland Park. This unique blend originated from an "accidental" combination of casks in 2015, where the Highland Park component, distilled in 2004, was 10-11 years old, and the Macallan portion was significantly older. The marriage was then transferred into hand-picked Oloroso Sherry butts for further maturation, resulting in a 21-year-old whisky. Bottled at 43.6% ABV, it is presented as part of the Old Perth Vintage Collection by Morrison Distillers, showcasing rich layers of sherried fruit, warming spices, and gentle oak, with a lingering finish that combines Macallan's elegance and Highland Park's smoky complexity. This release is natural colour and non-chill filtered, with an outturn of 900 bottles.

Nose
Deep sherried fruits with sultanas and a complex oak smoked finish. Strawberries and cream paired with ripe plums, cherries and sandalwood. A whiff of cured ham paired with candied orange peel and freshly baked honey comb.
Palate
Sherried fruits, warming spices, and gentle oak. Dark chocolate covered raisins paired with dried figs, créme brûlée and a touch of ash, with cinders of heather and a soft touch of lavender.
Finish
Lingering and smoky. A medium long finish with pronounced notes of salted liquorice, salmiak, liquorice root tea and a fair dusting of ground white pepper. Some seasalt paired with pecorine cheese and soft touches of old leather and tobacco.
