Description

This heavily peated whisky from Bruichladdich is generally peated to 40ppm and is distilled in the same tall stills resulting in a spirit that has both power and elegance. Created to commemorate the Lochindaal distillery, originally called Port Charlotte, which closed in 1929, it was the first spirit distilled by the Murray McDavid team in 2001. Nose
Sweet red fruits (honey, black cherry, raspberry, plum), citrus, and ginger, balanced by smoky oak, savoury charred notes, and a hint of medicinal peat. Underlying notes of cinnamon, cocoa, and malty sweetness.
Palate
Oily and medium-thick. Continues with red fruits (black cherry, plum, pomegranate, tangerine), spices (cinnamon, anise), and a prominent vegetal peat smoke. Notes of oak, nuts, honey, and dark chocolate develop, with hints of tropical fruit and vanilla.
Finish
Long and lingering with earthy peat, red wine influence, and tannic oak. Dark chocolate, coffee, roasted nuts, and jammy red fruits persist, alongside a touch of saltiness and ginger.
