The Port Ellen 29 Year Old 1978 – 8th Release is one of the most coveted bottlings from the legendary closed Islay distillery, Port Ellen. Released as part of Diageo's 2008 Special Releases, this expression is the 8th in a series of ultra-limited annual releases drawn from dwindling stocks of this historic distillery, which ceased production in 1983. Distilled in 1978 and bottled at a natural cask strength of 55.3% ABV, this 70cl bottle delivers the unmistakable Port Ellen profile: elegant peat smoke, salty maritime character, and layered notes of oak, citrus peel, brine, and leather.
