Maltiply Tasting Profile
Nose
Toasted bananas, honey and bakewell tarts with coastal hints. Rich and creamy, developing into vanilla, ripe fruits, marzipan followed by hints of sherbet, almonds and strawberries.
Palate
Big, spicy and gutsy, with notes of chilli, pine, citrus, aniseed and rich fruits. Thick and oily, fruity and mellow; gives way to a sweet liquorice and aniseed flavour as it opens up.
Finish
Long, salty, chocolate caramels with hints of smoky fruit. Sweet and chocolatey with some coconut, the finish is long and consistent with a pleasant smokey tingle.

The citrus and aniseed against chilli and pine make this more interesting than a straightforward rich-fruit malt. Sweet liquorice and the long, salty chocolate-caramel finish add a welcome counterpoint. It sounds bold and layered, though the sweet side may be quite prominent.

The citrus and aniseed give the rich fruit a brighter edge, while salty, lightly smoky notes add contrast. It sounds bold and layered, with plenty of weight rather than a clean, crisp feel.

Rich fruit and sweet liquorice make this warmly inviting.

This has plenty going on beyond smoke: the spicy chilli and aniseed sit alongside rich fruit, while the finish brings salty chocolate and coconut. The listed peat level is light, and the sensory notes describe smoky fruit and a smoky tingle rather than making smoke the main event. That balance suits my preference for smoke to be present without taking over. The long, consistent finish is a clear strength; the sweet, rich side may matter more here than peat.
