This Springbank 1991 16 Year Old Rum Wood is part of the 'Wood Expressions' range, matured for eight years in refill bourbon casks before being transferred to fresh rum barrels for the remaining eight years. [2, 6, 9, 10, 19, 21, 22] Produced by J. & A. Mitchell & Co. Ltd. at the Springbank Distillery in Campbeltown, Scotland, this single malt is non chill-filtered and free of artificial colorings. Sweet icing sugar, chalky, iced cinnamon buns, with hints of apple, pear, toffee-nut, and salted caramel. Notes of peaches, clementines, and flower blossoms mingle with toasted grains, brown sugar, and vanilla. Light peat, sour caramel, and citrus also emerge. [2, 3, 6, 8, 13, 14]
Palate
Maple syrup, pecan, hazelnut, and buttery sweetness, balanced by tannic oak, dried leather, and a touch of mustiness. Zesty lemon, roasted peat, and vanilla are present, alongside melon, toffee, and an oily, smoky, malty character. [2, 3, 6, 8, 13, 14]
Finish
