This 8-year-old Talisker expression is part of Diageo's Special Releases 2024, themed 'Spirited Xchange'. It is bottled at cask strength (58.7% ABV) and is non-chill filtered. The whisky was finished in 'stone-spun and lightly re-toasted casks,' a process where the barrels' original char layers were polished away by rocks and water before being re-toasted. This treatment aims to unleash fruity and vanilla characters beneath Talisker's signature maritime smoke.

Nose
Fresh, faintly maritime, with sea breezes, rockpools and oyster shells, on an earthy, mineral base with a hint of sphagnum moss. Also notes of lemons, unripe pears, vanilla cake, toasted oak, gentle wood smoke, and mild pepper.
Palate
Very smooth, mouth-filling and creamy in texture, with abundant peppery spice. Lightly drying overall, with a hint of apple & pear, peat smoke, saline elements, oysters, smoked lemons, creamy sweetness, and mineral and ashy notes.
Finish
Lengthy, developing plenty of Talisker spiciness, with a Sichuan-pepper mouth-cooling effect. Also features peppery and minty freshness, mild green leafiness, chocolate, red berries, with smoke and fruitiness remaining prominent.
