Description

Three Ships Whisky is produced at the James Sedgwick Distillery in Wellington, South Africa, established in 1886. The year-round warm temperature in the region accelerates the interaction between cask and spirit, allowing the whisky to show characteristics usually associated with older whiskies. This is a blend of specifically selected grain and malt whiskies, distilled in both pot and column stills, and aged for a minimum of five years in American oak casks.

Nose
Rich notes of oak, peaty smoke, hints of fruit, vanilla sweetness, freshly baked sugar biscuits and malt. Robust and aromatic smoke which reminds one of Islay, crisp oak and shortbread.
Palate
Peaty smoke balanced by fruity sweetness and robust maltiness. Hints of pear, citrus, cinnamon spice, nutty fruitcake, cherries and ginger. Sweet burnt caramel, light vegetal peatiness with pronounced hot spice. Ripe pears with spiciness and powerful peatiness. Sweet malt, honey, toasted oak, hint of spice and subtle peatiness.
Finish
Long and lingering, peaty fruit and spices. Medium/long, smoke lingers with caramel and pears. Clean and fresh, full peaty character lingers with fruit, ending with warm spice. Lingering sweetness and subtle smokiness.
