Description

Ardbeg 1998 Renaissance is the final installment in Ardbeg's "Peaty Path to Maturity" series, which included Very Young, Still Young, and Almost There. Distilled in 1998 and bottled in 2008, this 10-year-old expression celebrates the first stock from the Glenmorangie plc era reaching maturity. It was launched at Ardbeg Day during the Fèis Ìle in 2008 and is known for its rich and complex character. This non-chill filtered whisky was released as a limited edition of 21,000 bottles.

Nose
Intense peat smoke with vibrant tropical fruits, citrus (lemon, apple, peach), vanilla, caramel, cinnamon, sherbet, and a hint of sea salt. Some woodspice, mustard seed, and a developing peppery, coal smoke, and woodsmoke character.
Palate
Robust and full-bodied with an explosive crackle of peat. Sweet malt, cinnamon-spiced toffee, smoked chocolate limes, warm toasted bananas, bitter almonds, ginger-spiced apples and pears, and Seville orange crystals. Underlying notes of dark chocolate, espresso, medicinal iodine, and a touch of spice.
Finish
Long and warming, with lingering smoky and sweet notes, a slight peppery kick, simmering peat oils, wispy vanilla cream, chewy liquorice whirls, coffee, and a dry character.
