Description

This Brora 1978 Rare Old Gordon & MacPhail is a single malt whisky distilled in 1978 and bottled in 2013 at 46% ABV. It is part of Gordon & MacPhail's 'Rare Old' collection, which features rare single malt stocks. This release was limited to 218 bottles and comes with a presentation box. Brora distillery, a Highland distillery, closed in 1983 but has since reopened in 2021. Gordon & MacPhail is a renowned independent bottler founded in 1895.

Beautifully dense honey and rhubarb jam, soft peat smoke, waxy, peppermint, dry mineral spices, rose strawberry jam, lime juice, tobacco, teas, engine oil, old chartreuse, old car engine (Bakelite, old rubber), mushrooms, pu-erh tea, dried hay, earthy malt, melon, peppery, damp grass.
Palate
Impressively dense, rose petal shower, baked lemon, stew fruits, waxy, honey core, faint peat smoke, butterscotch, rhubarb jam, zesty, floral, white pepper, ripe banana, plum, lingering tobacco edge, smoked meat and ham, oranges, tar, salt, chocolate, sooty.
Finish
Milk chocolate, orange candy coating around honey core, cereal note, honey, cherry cola, peppery, dried hay, prunes, salt, more oranges and bacon, minty smoke, citrus, soft pepper, earthy notes.
