Description

A rare private bottling from the Isle of Mull, this Ledaig Single Malt was distilled in December 1972 and matured for 15 years before being bottled in April 1988 by The MacNab. The Tobermory Distillery operated under the name Ledaig when this whisky was distilled. This particular bottling was awarded 90 points by Whiskyfun.com, and is considered very rare due to a distillery incident that led to 240 bottles being destroyed.

Nose
A fairly light but nicely medicinal profile, mixing iodine and a gentle seabreeze with some paraffin, honey, dusty apple and candied ginger. Wet stones, hints of rubber, subtle ashy smoke, old cardboard, dried grass, and resinous notes.
Palate
Coastal with dried seaweed, briney notes, and plenty of resinous notes. Straw, hints of tea and lemon peels, a lightly berry sweetness, dried ginger, and fresh walnuts. Discreet peat smoke gains space towards the end.
Finish
Not very long, with elegant smoky notes, liquorice, and a subtle saline edge.
