Description

The Midleton Very Rare 2017 Release is a distinguished expression in the annual Very Rare series from the renowned Midleton distillery. This limited edition blended Irish whiskey, bottled at 40% ABV, is a harmonious blend of hand-selected single pot still and grain whiskies, aged between 12 and 32 years in ex-bourbon barrels. It represents the pinnacle of Irish whiskey craftsmanship and was the inaugural showcase of the distillery's newly designed packaging. Each bottle is individually numbered and signed by Master Distiller Brian Nation.

Nose
A delicate introduction of sweet mandarin orange citrus with green banana and vanilla, followed by light herbal notes, pot still spices like cardamom, nutmeg, and peppers. There are also notes of vanilla, honey, toffee, lemon peels, red apple, melon, apricots, peaches, gooseberries, coconut shavings, sage, rosemary, light varnish, gentle baking spice, and ginger.
Palate
Smooth and silky with initial sweetness of vanilla and red apple, then more robust spices like cinnamon, clove, and root ginger. It also features honey, toffee, butterscotch, orchard fruits (apples, pears), orange peel, baked pear, fragrant apricot, and cereal notes.
Finish
Medium to extra long, with peppery vanilla, fading astringency, spices subsiding to green fruit and stalks of barley, touches of clove and green pepper, and a buttery mouthfeel.
