The Nikka whisky company was founded in 1934 by Masataka Taketsuru, with the creation of his Yoichi distillery on the island of Hokkaido. Fruity and floral with smokiness and spice, notes of ripe apples, pears, bananas, vanilla, white flowers, sooty smoke, light salted caramel, ginger, cinnamon, lemon rind, and freshly planed oak.
Palate
Sweet, spicy, and fruity with char notes, spiced baked apples, barley, chaff, malted biscuits, seaweed, chocolate, stewed fruits, minerality, tangy orange, and lemon.
Finish
Shorter finish with smoke, freshly cracked black pepper, light fruits, floral notes, melon, oak tannins, and maritime peat smoke.
