Caramelised apple and delicate oak dryness on the nose establish that balance, while blossom honey and nutmeg carry the sweetness and spice through the palate. The finish changes the emphasis: honey sits alongside a salty maritime note and welcome tannic dryness. That shift suits my preference for apple, honey and oak, particularly when sweetness has something to push against. There is spice in the cinnamon spiced pastries and nutmeg, though not the peppery note I tend to favour. Overall, this reads as a sweet-led malt whose dry, salty finish gives it a welcome contrast.
