Description

This is the third annual release from Port Ellen distillery on Islay, this 24-year-old single malt was distilled in 1979 and is one of only 9,000 bottles released in 2003 as part of Diageo's Special Releases. Each bottle is presented at natural cask strength and features an individual bottle number.

Nose
Vegetal, grassy, lemony, malty, with notes of lamp oil, fresh putty, walnut skins, marzipan, antiseptic, and a hint of nail polish. Ash, plum, brine, toffee, peach, chocolate, and mineral notes also present.
Palate
Powerful with oak, pepper, and maritime notes. Waxy, almondy, peppery, and a bit drying. Sharp peat, lemon juice, vanilla, chili, tart apples, and a mouth-coating brine.
Finish
Long, smoky, dry, salty, and grassy, with lingering notes of chili, tobacco, brine, mineral, oak, and leather.
