Nose
A smoky, intense opening with deep oakiness, layered with toffee, honey, and tree fruits. Notes of Ovaltine, worn leather, antique furniture, medjool dates, dark stone fruits, rich dark chocolate, polished leather, walnut, mochaccino, Chinese salted dried plums, coffee cake, cocoa, vanilla, caramel, apples, pears, and raspberry jammy notes.
Palate
A charming burst of crumble filling (red currant, cranberry, raspberry, strawberry), transitioning into apple, pear, and sultana. Firm oak tannins provide structure, balanced by waves of toffee, dark fruit, peppery spice, treacle, black cherry pipe tobacco, velvet-like chocolate, coffee, and pound cake, with a hint of anise.
Finish
Long and decidedly oaky, with tannins that grip without becoming astringent. A sweet thread of toffee and dried fruit lingers, with notes of black forest gateau, a pinch of salt, peppery leather, and wood influence.
