Located on the Isle of Skye, Torabhaig Distillery is another of the traditional farm steadings-turned distillery projects of recent times, though its output is significantly larger than many of its peers. Nose. Very powerful, maritime, bacon-like smoke that nicely masks the youthfulness. The alcohol is well integrated. Relatively little fruit on the nose. Palate. Very powerful on the attack. Lots of oak, strong smoke – maritime, earthy, slightly dirty. Also iodine, fleur de sel, red berries, plums, raisins, caramel, a touch of apple, oak spice. Finish. Medium-length finish. Smoke, caramel, plum, oak, iodine, seaweed, espresso.
